4th of July
No, it's not the 4th of July for US independence, it's the 4th of July for the anniversary of the city of Horta!
This year it has been 188 years since Horta went from village to town.
We currently have about 8,800 inhabitants in the city of Horta, comprising 3 parishes: Angústias, Matriz and Conceição, and here is the seat of the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
Our city develops in an amphitheater facing the mountain of Pico Island, beingbenefited to the south by the Bay of Porto Pim, protected by Monte da Guia (145 meters) and Monte Queimado (89 meters), and to the north, located the wide Baia da Horta sheltered by Lomba da Espalamaca, considered one of the most beautiful bays in the world.
